Jesus was also a man who worked to overcome the human weaknesses that we all face. To be a “God” in human form would distance him from those whom he came to teach. The people would not be able to relate to him unless he had come from a similar background and had weaknesses of the ego to overcome. Jesus was able to put into practice the spiritual truths he learned during the early years of his life. His gentle method of relating to everyone regardless of position, income or race, made him an effective and sought after teacher.

Metaphysical Spirituality is not just a religion, but it is a way of life. To its followers, it provides a pattern for living and the key to the mysteries of both sides of life. Metaphysical Spirituality emphasizes the spiritual principle of personal responsibility in that we are all responsible for the conditions of our lives. We are co-creators with the Divine Power not puppets on a string waiting for outside influences to move us in one direction or another. Realizing this as a truth brings great liberation from the fears of the unknown and an awareness that our lives are the result of our thoughts and actions.

Dogmatic religion stems from a psychological need for group identity and belonging, together with a need for certainty and meaning. There is a strong impulse in human beings to define ourselves, whether it’s as a Christian, a Muslim, a socialist, a citizen of a country, a member of a political party, or as a fan of a sports club. This urge is closely connected to the impulse to be part of a group, to feel that you belong, and share the same beliefs and principles as others. And these impulses work together with the need for certainty—the feeling that you "know," that you possess the truth, that you are right and others are wrong.

The Rowan Tree encourages us to keep moving in the direction of our soul’s calling. This calling will eventually lead us back to ourselves as one. This calling begins as we subconsciously separate our self from our soul at an early age in order to create our own unique identity. Along the way we eventually long to feel whole and begin searching for our other half. This reunion of the self and soul becomes a conscious journey that requires us to make peace with our shadows as sources of wisdom, compassion and strength.

The Ethic of Reciprocity is actually a philosophical term for the basic moral principle which states that individuals should treat others in the same manner that they wish to be treated. Most of us are more familiar with this concept as the “Golden Rule”.

Have you noticed how great ideas are sometimes put forth by different people in different places, at the same time? This happens in science, when two independent sets of researchers come up with the same “breakthrough” at the same time, halfway around the globe from each other. It happens in songs or stories when two independent people or groups come up with a similar song or storyline at similar times.
